Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic has today met with Resident Representative of the World Bank in Montenegro Jan-Peter Olters in Podgorica.
The Prime Minister welcomed the fact that the World Bank Office in Podgorica had been operating for more than a year since Montenegros admission to this reputable international financial institution. He also praised the success of cooperation between the World Bank and relevant government departments and institutions. The Prime Minister underlined the valuable support the Government had recently received from the Office, through a very rich portfolio of projects, above all in the field of sustainable tourism, energy, land policy, as well as through the final stage of the public-private partnership arrangement for Bar-Boljare Motorway, in which IFC provided advisory services. In this context both parties placed particular emphasis their shared views on the main directions of Montenegros future development.
Mr. Olters told Prime Minister Djukanovic that, from the perspective of the World Bank, joint projects in Montenegro were progressing at a very satisfactory rate, voicing hope that the World Bank would continue to provide strong support to government activities in the future. He informed the Prime Minister of the forthcoming visit to Montenegro by the World Bank Director for Montenegro, which would be a good opportunity to make an overview of the situation in the implementation of ongoing projects and propose new World Bank arrangements in sectors of special importance for the future development of Montenegro, providing a solid basis for sustained economic growth.
