Press release: Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic meets with Croatian President Stjepan Mesic

Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic has today met with President of the Republic of Croatia Stjepan Mesic.
Prime Minister Djukanovic expressed his satisfaction with relations between the two countries, which maintained a strong upward trend. He underlined that regular top-level visits strengthened the comprehensive and close bilateral relations that could serve as an example of good neighborly relations in Southeastern Europe and demonstrate the European credentials of the whole region. The Prime Minister presented the stable macroeconomic situation in the country and confirmed his Governments readiness to meet its foreign policy priorities integration into European and Euro-Atlantic structures, at the same time emphasizing the importance of Croatian experiences.
President Mesic described relations between Montenegro and Croatia as increasingly substantial, emphasizing that the two countries had no outstanding issues. He underlined his countrys progress towards strategic national objectives, of which accession to NATO Alliance, as a guarantee of Croatias peaceful development, was already under way. The Croatian President said that the two countrys common future in the European Union was an additional incentive to the exceptional advancement of friendly bilateral relations.
Having considered the current political situation in the region, both sides underlined the importance of building constructive regional relations, particularly bearing in mind the common goal unifying all the countries in Europes south-east the EU membership. By the same token, they welcomed the formation of the pro-European Government in Serbia.
In the light of the latest institutional difficulties in the European Union, both sides expressed hope that a solution to the new situation would soon be found, clearly confirming the unreserved European future of the whole region.
The talks were also attended by Montenegrin Foreign Minister Milan Rocen, Montenegrin Ambassador to Croatia Branko Lukovac and Croatian Ambassador to Montenegro Petar Turcinovic.
