Podgorica, Montenegro (5 February 2020) – At today's session, chaired by Prime Minister Duško Marković, the National Investment Commission adopted the Work Report for the period July-December 2019 and submitted it to the Government of Montenegro for approval.
The Report provides, inter alia, information on projects nominated and funded by the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF). It was noted that in December last year, the Steering Committee of WBIF approved EUR 4.4 million for co-financing the project Construction of infrastructure for water supply and wastewater disposal on the Adriatic coast – Bay of Kotor, phase II.
The grant allocation is intended for the second phase of the construction of a sewage network in the wider area of the Bay of Kotor - that is, the connection of sewage systems in Risan, Perast, Prčanj and Stoliv to the main collector in Kotor and the wastewater treatment plant.
Furthermore, in the reporting period, the Commission approved the nomination of the project of the Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs, through the Western Balkan Investment Framework, for the reconstruction and modernisation of the Vrbnica - Bar railway line, the state border with Serbia. The required amount of the WBIF grant is EUR 19 million.
The document said that the WBIF meeting in London in December noted that the EU would increase its financial support for investments in the WB infrastructure in the coming period, especially in the areas of environment and climate change.
