Minister Bogdanović at meeting in UNESCO

Minister of Culture Aleksandar Bogdanović held a meeting earlier today with representatives of the UNESCO, at its headquarters in Paris. The meeting focused on topics of significance to the world heritage sites in Montenegro, current Government policies of relevance to those areas and ongoing nominations. Assistant Director-General for Culture of UNESCO Ernesto Ottone Ramirez and Director of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre Mechtild Rossler attended the meeting.

Minister Bogdanović recalled of the Government activities undertaken in the last three years, with the intention of improving the system of management, spatial planning and protection of UNESCO's "unique universal values". He expressed the Government's commitment to continue towards this direction, in consultation with the relevant UNESCO bodies and called for intensified cooperation in the upcoming period.

Ottone Ramirez and Rossler expressed their readiness to intensify cooperation with Montenegro in the coming period, bearing in mind the progress made in the previous period. They also showed interest in current policies of Montenegro, in relation to the issue of spatial planning and the protection of cultural and natural heritage. The meeting discussed the next steps for the delivery of files to supplement the Bokelj Navy, which is expected by the end of March, as it was announced at the Bogota Committee.

In addition to Minister Bogdanović, Ambassador of Montenegro to UNESCO Ivan Ivanišević, Director of the Directorate for the Protection of Cultural Property Božidar Božović and Secretary General of the Montenegrin National Commission for UNESCO Milica Nikolić also attended the meeting.
