Ministry of Culture: We strongly condemn desecration of Doclea, criminal charges will be filed

The latest in a series of vandalism related to religious processions held in the cities of Montenegro occurred, as incredible as it may sound, on the remains of Doclea. Organised groups, which are destroying public property these days, have desecrated the national heritage site with paint.

This is, unfortunately, only a logical continuation after the recent desecration of the monument dedicated to the anti-fascist struggle - and it shows that those who "defend the shrines" are disturbed by everything that is part of Montenegro's history. Both anti-fascism and the first Montenegrin state are a thorn in their eyes, which they apparently believe will disappear if they are repainted with paint distributed by political parties.

The Ministry of Culture strongly condemns this act of vandalism, for which it will file criminal charges against John Doe for the desecration of cultural heritage.

Minister of Culture Aleksandar Bogdanović ordered the Center for Conservation and Archeology to remove the damage from one of the most important cultural assets in the country, using all expert and conservation measures.
