Press release: Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic meets with newly appointed Greek Ambassador to Montenegro Giorgos Avgoustis

Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic met in Podgorica today with newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Greece to Montenegro, Mr. Giorgos Avgoustis.
The Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction that Greece had marked its presence in Montenegro by appointing a resident ambassador and voiced confidence that the Greek Embassy would promote further strengthening of bilateral relations between the two countries, aided by the forthcoming opening of the Montenegrin Embassy in Athens. It was noted that Greece and Montenegro had a long-standing tradition of friendship, enriched with new quality in recent political history. The Prime Minister thanked the Ambassador for Greek understanding of recent trends in Montenegros development policy, as well as for the support his country provided to Montenegro on its European path, placing particular emphasis on cooperation between the two countries defense ministries and the role of Greece as a liaison country between Montenegro and NATO.
Ambassador Avgoustis underlined that Greece supported Montenegros accession to the European Union, expressing his countrys readiness to provide every support necessary on the accession path, based on its own experience. He informed the Prime Minister that a number of major Greek investors were interested in investing their capital in Montenegro, as a result of its evident economic progress in recent years.
