Press release: Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic meets with Head of UNHCR Office in Montenegro Serge Ducasse

Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic met Tuesday with representative of the UN High Commissioner for refugees and Head of the UNHCR Office in Montenegro Serge Ducasse.

The Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction with the Governments cooperation with UNHCR, particularly during the crisis years in the Western Balkans, adding that Montenegro would not have been able to answer the challenges of the huge influx of refugees and displaced persons without the help of and good cooperation with the UNHCR.

Despite the effects of the global crisis, the Government of Montenegro will maintain a responsible approach to dealing with this problem in the coming period, stressed Prime Minister Djukanovic.

Mr. Ducasse thanked the Government for the efforts made over the past years in providing for refugees and displaced persons, which was borne out by Montenegros permanent membership of UNHCRs Executive Committee.

Both sides agreed that the Government and UNHCR would continue to make every effort to resolve the issue of the return of refugees and displaced persons and ensure their adequate treatment in Montenegro.
