Šehović in UAE: Closer cooperation in digitalisation of education

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (26 February 2020) -- The United Arab Emirates (UAE) are ready to cooperate more closely with Montenegro, in the digitalisation of education, advancement of existing and development of new subject programs, regarding the application of new technologies in education, as well as training for teachers, it was noted at today's meeting of Ministers of Education and the UAE, Damir Šehović and Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi in Dubai.

They also noted that they will jointly work to create a new curriculum for the Research Center, which will soon be established in Montenegro and to develop study programs in English, at the level of postgraduate studies with the University of Montenegro and the University of Donja Gorica. Furthermore, they expressed openness to enable a number of best students from Montenegro to visit the EXPO, which will be organised in Dubai this year.

An expert delegation from Montenegro will visit the UAE in the coming months, aimed at better preparation for the implementation of the aforementioned solutions, it was agreed at the meeting. 

The meeting was held within the visit of Minister Šehović to the 2020 Global Education Forum in Dubai. He led the Montenegrin delegation namely State Secretary at the Ministry of Education Aleksandar Mitrović and Secretary of the Ministry of Education Omer Mehmedović, at the invitation of UAE Minister of Education Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi. The meeting was also attended by Ambassador of Montenegro to the UAE Duška Jeknić and Second Secretary at the Embassy of Montenegro to the UAE Dragiša Dragnić.

Regarding challenges brought up by rapid technological changes, the Global Education Forum put in the focus relationship between technology and humanity. A message was sent that in the next ten years the world will change more than in the last 100 years and humanity must prepare for the affairs of the future. Through education and digital literacy, we must prepare young people for a world that will be drastically different from today, it was pointed out.
