A meaningful and constructive discussion on the environmental issues between Prime Minister Duško Marković and representatives of Green Home, led by Executive Director Nataša Kovačević, resulted in concrete suggestions and proposals to the Government and the administration in order to improve the situation in this area.

The meeting, organised as part of the Alliance for Europe Initiative, discussed water quality, river devastation issues, diversification of energy sources in the context of watercourses protection, marine conservation, waste treatment and climate change.

Both sides agreed that it was important to further improve legislation, strengthen penalties and penal policies, as well as raise citizens' awareness of the importance of more responsible environmental behaviour. Furthermore, the necessity of strengthening the institutional potential in order to better respond to the challenges of environmental protection was jointly noted.

The Government of Montenegro will consider all received suggestions on which competent departments will work through further cooperation and communication.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policy and Financial System Milutin Simović, State Secretary at the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism Dragana Čenić, Director General of the Directorate for Environment at the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism and Negotiator for Chapter 27 Ivana Vojinović and Chief Negotiator with European Union Aleksandar Drljević.
