Press release: Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic meets with His Royal Highness Prince Andrew the Duke of York

Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic met Friday with His Royal Highness Prince Andrew Albert Christian Edward the Duke of York, who was paying an official visit to Montenegro on the occasion of the inauguration of the UK Embassy in Podgorica.
Prime Minister Djukanovic said that Montenegro was very proud of the British Governments cooperation and support in the process of its democratic reform and European and Euro-Atlantic integration. He recalled that this year marked the 130th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, adding that he was pleased that a senior member of the Royal Family was visiting Montenegro for the first time.
His Royal Highness Prince Andrew underlined that Montenegro had taken very careful and wise steps towards restoring its independence. He noted that over the past three years the country was pursuing the course of wider integration, adding that the United Kingdom sincerely wanted to be a partner to Podgorica in that respect, because of its position that every country should be making progress towards the EU and NATO in line with its success in adopting European standards.
During the meeting, which was attended by cabinet ministers Milan Rocen, Branimir Gvozdenovic, Predrag Nenezic and Andrija Lompar, reference was also made as also made to possibilities for economic cooperation and the involvement of British investors in the privatization process in Montenegro. In that context, particular interest was expressed in the participation of UK investors in the forthcoming privatization of the Port of Bar.
