PM Marković meets with Vijesti Director Marijana Bojanić within Alliance for Europe Initiative

The dialogue within the Alliance for Europe initiated by the Government with various social actors continued today with Vijesti as a significant representative of the Montenegrin media community.

The media are an important social actor and their place is indispensable in the European integration process led by our country. Therefore, the Government wants to pay even more attention to all aspects of cooperation, which entails constant dialogue through constructive proposals coming from the media community – Prime Minister Duško Marković said at the meeting.

The meeting commented on many issues related to legal and other media regulations, including the topic of audiovisual media services, marketing and markets, media measurement, self-regulation, and other topics relevant to media functioning and sustainability. Furthermore, the issue of attacks on journalists and media assets was discussed, as well as the institutions' response to the challenge so far.

The Prime Minister emphasised that further improvement of the media scene is important for the rule of law as a key value for the further development of Montenegro.

"The Government will treat the media community with a full understanding of critical thinking in the objective work and reporting of all media outlets, respecting such an approach as important for the advancement of democracy and further social development," PM Marković said.

The meeting with Marijana Bojanić was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister Zoran Pažin and Minister of the Interior Mevludin Nuhodžić and Minister of Culture Aleksandar Bogdanović.
