Montenegro and the Republic of Italy as friendly countries and allies in NATO share the values of contemporary Europe and believe that the integration of the Western Balkan countries into the European Union is a condition of stability of this region and Europe as a whole – Prime Minister Duško Marković and Minister of Defence of Italy Lorenzo Guerini agreed at today's meeting.

The Prime Minister stated that Montenegro and its institutions are able to overcome all challenges in a democratic way.

Minister Guerini said that Italy is paying close attention to hybrid actions by third parties that could have an adverse effect on Allied countries and countries in the region in general.

"Italy believes in democratic solutions to the current processes in Montenegro. Dialogue and democratic decision-making should not be hindered by any interference from the outside," Minister Guerini said.

The meeting noted excellent bilateral relations between the two countries, especially in the economic sphere. Excellent defence cooperation has been crowned by the training of our officers in Italian military academies and joint Italian-Greek patrols within the protection of the Montenegrin sky.
