At the end of his working visit to the United States of America, Deputy Prime Minister Zoran Pažin spoke with representatives of prominent US civil society organisations, at the Embassy of Montenegro in Washington.

On that occasion, they exchanged views on current political and social opportunities and challenges and pointed to the significance of unifying progressive social forces towards further democratic development of Montenegro and the region.

It was crucial for Montenegrin citizens to continue the path they took, Professor at the Johns Hopkins University Daniel Serwer noted. "They have taken the path of independence, the path of equal rights for all citizens and I hope that they will continue along this path, despite the interference of Russia and Serbia and despite the behaviour of the Serbian Orthodox Church. All this should be seen in the context of guaranteeing equal rights. And if you can achieve that, the future of Montenegro will be secured," Serwer pointed out.

It is crucial for Montenegro's further progress to stay on the path of Euro-Atlantic integration, Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council in Washington Damir Marušić noted following the meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Pažin. He also added that the world, the United States and the Europe are monitoring the situation in Montenegro.

"Montenegro has progressed significantly more, compared to the rest of the region, especially on the path towards EU membership and it is quite important to succeed on this path. Especially after all the setbacks and obstacles that have come up on the European side. I would say that, in spite of everything that is going on, despite the tensions, it is crucial for Montenegro to continue its progress in pointing out the possibilities and paving the way for others in the region, to reach their final destiny, I would say within the family of the Western countries," Marušić concluded.
