Minister Bogdanović at Women’s Parliament session: Gender equality is one of key prerequisite for cultural emancipation

"The activities of the Ministry of Culture are in line with the need of raising awareness of gender equality, in order to achieve strategically planned, multi-sectoral and institutionally supported development of women's creativity," Minister of Culture Aleksandar Bogdanović noted at the twelfth session of the Women's Parliament, held earlier today within organisation of the Gender Equality Committee of the Parliament of Montenegro.
In further researches on the cultural needs of women much more needs to be done and their actions towards joint contribution to culture need to be strengthened, Minister Bogdanović highlighted.
"In line with these needs, one of the tasks of the Ministry of Culture will be to comprehensively explore the position of women in culture and the obstacles they face," Minister Bogdanović added.
In any analysis of social progress, as he pointed out, gender equality is proving to be one of the key preconditions for the overall cultural emancipation and support for those processes that foster inclusion and equal opportunities. Minister Bogdanović stressed that culture is a particularly important for establishing gender equality, because in its symbolic field the meaning of gender is established, which is not only a prerequisite for the full exercise of women's rights, but also a basis for the free expression of all diversity.
"At the level of cross-sectoral cooperation, the Ministry of Culture takes part in the creation and implementation of the Action Plan for achieving gender equality in Montenegro (2017-2021) of the Government of Montenegro, especially in combating gender stereotypes and introducing gender equality policies to the media and culture," Minister Bogdanović highlighted.
