The issue of the functionality of state institutions, their competence and responsibilities is a key topic of the meeting between Prime Minister Duško Marković and a delegation of the Social Democratic Party of Montenegro (SDP), headed by president of the SDP Draginja Vuksanović.

Both sides agreed that the social synergy, which could arise from the Alliance for Europe Initiative, should primarily be aimed at preserving the civic character of Montenegro, as the best solution for our country and its citizens.

Prime Minister Duško Marković and SDP President Draginja Vuksanović specifically focused on the issues of further improving the functionality of democratic institutions, as a precondition for further progress in the European integration process.

Representatives of the SDP recalled that the party had aimed at an independent and democratic Montenegro since its formation, and in this regard assessed the Prime Minister's Alliance for Europe Initiative as positive, noting that any dialogue represents a quality more on the democratisation of the country.

On behalf of the Government, the meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policy and Financial System Milutin Simović and Chief Negotiator with the European Union Aleksandar Drljević, and on behalf of the Social Democratic Party by SDP Vice President Raško Konjević and the SDP Main Committee members Izet Bralić and Skender Elezagić.
