Due to the situation that has hit the whole world and our country and in accordance with the Order to take temporary measures to suppress and prevent the transmission of a novel coronavirus, which were brought last night by the National Coordination Team at the proposal of the Institute for Public Health, and on the basis of the Law on Protection of the Population from Communicable Diseases, Minister of Economy Dragica Sekulić continued the preventive actions and held meetings with representatives of all energy and telecommunications entities in Montenegro.

Given that those are services of public interest, the meeting discussed the measures and activities undertaken by businesses in these sectors to ensure continuity of service to our citizens, regardless of the circumstances.

At the meeting with energy entities, the Minister emphasised that in such a difficult situation in which the whole world has found itself, we must provide service to our citizens 24/7. She stressed that a safe and lasting power supply to all consumers in Montenegro is ensured without exception. An absolute priority are all health care facilities, especially facilities designated by the Government for the implementation of quarantine measures, namely the premises of the Regional School of Public Administration (RESPA) near Danilovgrad and the premises of the former Zoganj barracks near Ulcinj.

The Minister tasked all energy companies to monitor and regularly report to the Ministry on the state of the system, as well as to protect their workers in accordance with current recommendations.

Minister Sekulić thanked the telecommunication operators for their social responsibility in this situation, which is reflected in the support to the efforts of the Government of Montenegro to provide citizens with timely and accurate information, as well as in numerous additional services that they made available to their users free of charge during this period.

The meeting concluded that we need to monitor the situation together, take synchronized actions and redouble our attention and efforts, because development of the current epidemiological situation, i.e. prevention of unintended consequences, depends on our actions.
