Minister Bogdanović: More than EUR 250,000 to support media sector

Minister of Culture Aleksandar Bogdanović said that the Ministry of Culture, based on the Conclusion of the Cabinet session held on 19 March, regarding support to the media sector in Montenegro, has announced a public competition that will provide EUR 150,000 for the creation and production of content in daily print media, in accordance with the situation and economic consequences caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

In this way, we want to support the activities of daily print media for the creation and production of content of public interest, in order to exercise the right of citizens to be informed and educated on all issues, problems and consequences related to the coronavirus. The Government's goal is timely, credible, professional and objective public information on the coronavirus, as well as protection against disinformation and fake news, Minister Bogdanović said.

Furthermore, Minister Bogdanović stressed that the Agency for Electronic Media has accepted the recommendation of the Government of Montenegro and at today's session made a decision to completely free the electronic media from the obligation of paying the mandatory fee to the Agency over the next three months.

He added that one-off financial assistance for 14 local public broadcasters was also allocated, in the amount of EUR 35,000.
