Podgorica, Montenegro (25 March, 2020) -- The National Coordination Body for Communicable Diseases (NKT) formed the Crisis Medical Staff headed by prof. Dr. Ranko Lazović, for the purpose of undertaking all activities necessary in Montenegro’s further successful dealing with coronavirus pandemic and managing the entire health care system of Montenegro in the coming period.
The meeting, which was attended by directors of all medical institutions in Montenegro, representatives of the Armed Forces of Montenegro, the Directorate for Emergency Situations and private medical centres, voiced full determination of all health care institutions to follow the instructions of the National Coordination Body, including the readiness of the private hospital Codra to make its capacities available. Heads of medical institutions expressed their unity and willingness to follow the instructions, which they will be receiving from the Crisis Medical Staff, and to implement them as soon as possible.
An operational plan for using medical capacities was adopted and immediately implemented, aimed at providing citizens with the best possible health care, using capacities to the fullest possible extent and successfully tackling the following challenges. In this regard, the President of the NKT particularly welcomed readiness of the Codra Private Hospital, to make its capacities available.
The operational plan includes the dislocation of individual patients and doctors, in accordance with the re-allocation of capacities. Particular emphasis was given to the need for full involvement of primary health care, especially for the patronage health service, as well as the strict supervision of persons in self-isolation.
Protection of health care workers is a vital link in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, President of the National Coordination Body Milutin Simović recalled at today’s meeting.
"You are on the bumper of both, national health and the entire state. Professional and conscientious medical workers are a key resource of our system. Let’s forget our usual differences, trouble must unite us. Follow strict instructions that you will be receiving from your colleagues from the Crisis Medical Staff," President of the National Coordination Body Milutin Simović pointed out.
