The Montenegro’s Covid - 19 National Preparedness and Response Plan was presented earlier today, to the ambassadors accredited in Montenegro, as a complete document that contains estimated comprehensive quarterly needs of Montenegro, amounted to EUR 59 million for ten key categories: from urgent responses to combating numerous emergency socio- economic challenges.

President of the National Coordination Body for Communicable Diseases Milutin Simović presented to the ambassadors, the measures and activities which our country has taken so far and said that Montenegro is entering a critical phase, as the epidemic is expected to peak next week.

"In this battle, we also need both the assistance and understanding in the short term. Our actions today will save lives in following weeks. We do not have time to delay, and this is clearly indicated by examples of our friendly European countries, which experience one of the most dramatic moments in their history. … Adequate responses need to be found, as soon as possible. And that's where we need your help. Other countries of the region also need help, and this is the best opportunity for participants in this conference to share the experiences of this approach with their countries, believing that we could soon create joint regional initiatives," President of the National Coordination Body Milutin Simović noted.

Ambassadors were informed that the Prime Minister of Montenegro had already launched an initiative on a regional joint response to coronavirus.

"Montenegro wants and wills to be, as before, the initiator and address of such initiatives. This was demonstrated, these days as well, through the Government messages that Montenegro does not want to close its borders. That Montenegro wants and supports the free movement of goods, that it does not prohibit the movement of any goods, especially medical devices and equipment. Reserved and already paid deliveries are not blocked. Therefore, Montenegro does not want to impede and stop the traffic of goods. On the contrary! We have made our port facilities available to the region and beyond," the President of the National Coordination Body concluded.
