New control material for Covid-19 developed by Joint Research Centre submitted to Montenegrin laboratories

Scientists of the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) have developed a special control material used in diagnostics of new coronavirus – COVID-19.

The subject material is in fact a so-called “positive control material”, which increases the efficiency of COVID-19 tests and resolves the issue of false negatives. The control material has already been distributed to all the EU Member States. After we have contacted JRC, part of the material has also been submitted to our national reference laboratories – Public Health Institute and Specialist Veterinary Laboratory.

Previously, the Joint Research Centre has also provided us with crucial support in drafting the Smart Specialisation Strategy of Montenegro. Therefore, this was yet another opportunity for them to show their openness and react quickly, sharing their new developments and discoveries with our country.
