PR ServiceMontenegrin citizens have shown understanding, patience, patriotism and solidarity, which we are proud of, Prime Minister of Montenegro Duško Marković said in an interview with Pobjeda, commenting on the decision to ease the measures taken as response to the coronavirus pandemic.

The decision to ease the measures, he added, is a clear indication that Montenegro has put the epidemic under control, and the health system, police, the armed forces, all ministries, prosecutors, all administrations, local communities and their departments have shown potential, maturity, expertise and determination in this period.

- Montenegro, in countering the coronavirus pandemic, has done everything that was necessary both in preparation and in terms of concrete activities to protect the health of citizens and the uncontrolled spread of the epidemic, he said.

The Government, the Prime Minister added, timely and decisively did everything that was necessary to achieve this result today.

- I see that the phrase "politics is in retreat before the profession" is often used. What does that mean? No! There was no place here for politics but for institutions. For those institutions that for years part of the political scene has been trying to compromise and ridicule. This is a time in which the health system, the police, the armed forces, all ministries, the prosecution, all administrations, local communities and their services have shown potential, maturity, expertise and determination, said PM Marković.

When the health of citizens is threatened, he says, it is natural that the health system as a whole plays a key role, and in the case of the epidemic, the Public Health Institute.

- So there was no retreat here, but all institutions were on the frontline according to their competencies. The Government provided full coordination through the National Coordination Body, which is headed by Deputy Prime Minister Milutin Simović. I am proud of the ability of institutions, the knowledge and expertise of individuals in them, the Prime Minister emphasised.

According to the Prime Minister, citizens also made a significant contribution and support to institutions to put the epidemic in our country under control.

- Citizens are at the center of all our efforts. Firstly, to preserve their health, which is an obligation of the health system. Secondly, by accepting and obeying the orders and recommendations of the competent authorities, they contribute to preventing the serious consequences caused by this invisible enemy. Montenegrin citizens have shown understanding, patience, patriotism and solidarity that we are proud of, Prime Minister Marković said.

Their role in this, he said, unprecedented crisis is crucial.

- Not only in this period, but also for what awaits us in the future. Nothing will be the same again all over the world, not even in Montenegro because of the consequences of this epidemic. Therefore, civic solidarity and innovation will represent the capital for the time to come, Prime Minister Duško Marković concluded.
