PM Marković at PMQs: Despite pandemic of coronavirus, construction sites in North of Montenegro continue to operate

Published on: Apr 29, 2020 9:47 PM Author: PR Service
"From the first day of prescribing health and safety measures, although temporary, we were aware that capital projects must not be allowed to stop in this period. And that is exactly why, when asked if the Government plans to continue the started infrastructure projects in the North of our country, we are pleased to witness today that the implementation of the aforementioned capital investments actually flow continuously. … Despite the epidemic-induced challenges, all construction sites in northern Montenegro, which have been preserved during the winter period, continue to operate. …. At the construction sites of all three ski resorts in the area of Bjelasica and Komovi - Kolašin 1600 in Kolašin, Žarski in Mojkovac and Cmiljača in Bijelo Polje. I would like to point out that the value of the investment in these three locations, according to the Investment Studies, amounts to EUR 70 million," said Prime Minister Duško Marković in response to the question from MP Ervin Ibrahimović on behalf of the Caucus of the Bošniak Party, Shqiptaret te vendosur - Albanians Decisive Coalition - Forca, DUA and AA and the Croatian Citizens' Initiative.

"This is precisely why, these days, the considerable attention is paid to organising work on construction sites, on which the state is an investor. Health measures are respected, additional recommendations are prescribed and orders are issued, so - we are doing everything to ensure the safe operation and smooth functioning at construction sites. It is true that the work is carried out in special conditions, but the activities are ongoing without significant delays, except at motorway construction sites, of what I am going to talk about today, within a special issue. And on civil engineering projects, such as a breach of road, transformation of mountain slopes into landscaped ski slopes, as well as the construction and reconstruction of roads - mechanisation is mostly involved, so the very nature of the job facilitates the implementation of epidemiological and health instructions," said the Prime Minister.

"Works in the North of Montenegro have not been suspended, nor have we considered it as an option. On the contrary, we have tried to go a step further in these months, to try to keep investors interested in further investing to our North and in every other location across Montenegro. As we announced, the programme of acquiring Montenegrin citizenship began to yield results. Namely, out of six projects that have been included, through this programme, in the list of development projects in the area of tourism, even five projects will be implemented in the North of Montenegro. These are four hotels in Kolašin and one in Žabljak. The total value will amount to over EUR 74 million and putting these 5 hotels into operation will create preconditions for the creation of over 400 new jobs. Accommodation capacities will be greater for 525 high-class rooms – in 4 and 5 stars. Now more than ever before, we are aware that the implementation of such projects increases the value of the entire space of our country, primarily for ourselves, to whom this country is the only home. For this purpose, we will continue to implement capital projects, in order to establish a balanced and sustainable development throughout the territory and provide a better life for every citizen and his family," Prime Minister Duško Marković said answering a question from MP Ervin Ibrahimović on behalf of the Caucus of the Bošniak Party, Shqiptaret te vendosur - Albanians Decisive Coalition - Forca, DUA and AA and the Croatian Citizens' Initiative.
