Prime Minister Duško Marković congratulated 3 May – the World Press Freedom Day, assessing that Montenegrin journalists, during the complex crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic, showed that professionalism and social responsibility should be fundamental principles of media work.
"Throughout history, the world has gone through various challenges and crises, but the need for citizens to be informed in a timely and accurate manner has always survived as a fundamental democratic value.
The media in Montenegro have been an important factor in institutions' fight against coronavirus, and showed professionalism and resilience, except in isolated cases, to the extremely dangerous occurrence of fake news," the Prime Minister's congratulatory letter read.
Prime Minister Marković expressed gratitude and respect to all media workers in Montenegro, stressing that the Government continues to be committed to the freedom and protection of journalists and the media, and to improving conditions for their better position and sustainability.
