Minister of Foreign Affairs, prof. Dr. Srđan Darmanović held a briefing earlier today with ambassadors of EU and NATO member states and the Head of the EU Delegation in Podgorica.

On that occasion, Minister Darmanović informed the diplomatic corps on the situation caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the acceptance of the new methodology in the negotiations with the EU and the current events related to the protests in several Montenegrin cities.

The Head of Montenegrin diplomacy emphasised that our institutions successfully passed the challenging exam and that they showed coherence in their procedures, thus preventing the spread of the coronavirus.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs thanked the ambassadors for their humanity, solidarity, as well as for the valuable donations that their countries earmarked for Montenegro.

The Head of Montenegrin diplomacy further stressed that the Government accepted the new methodology of negotiations with the EU, which proves that any model implying valuation of individual merits is acceptable for Montenegro.

On the occasion of current events and mass violations of measures of the National Coordination Body, Minister Darmanović pointed out that the vast majority of Montenegrin citizens, who behave responsibly and respect the prescribed measures, are not obliged to suffer and be exposed to serious health risk due to irresponsible behaviour of organisers and participants of a protest rally.

"We are at the brink of eradicating the coronavirus in Montenegro, but with such unscrupulous treatment, everything that has been done so far is in question," Minister Darmanović pointed out.

The meeting exchanged opinions on further steps in the fight against coronavirus, easing the measures, opening borders and tourist traffic, as well as on strengthening cooperation in overcoming the economic difficulties caused by coronavirus.
