Minister Bogdanović: Brutal attack from well-known addresses on highest values of Montenegro

Commenting on persisting devastation of cultural and historical landmarks, such as destruction of the marble plaque on the monument in Ravni laz, desecration of the fortress in Trojica above Kotor and burning Montenegrin flags in previous day, Minister of Culture Aleksandar Bogdanović said that this was just another brutal attack from well-known addresses on the highest values of Montenegro.

"These days we are witnesses of the most open, orchestrated campaign of manipulation from Serbia, which is firmly endorsed by some local politicians. Increasingly inappropriate statements by Serbian officials, but also the continuation of the disinformation campaign by media – from alleged explosions in Berane, placing photomontages from abroad, to the claims about the upcoming fratricidal war, are new in a series of examples of interference in Montenegro's internal affairs. This comes as no surprise for us. This is just continuation of the perennial media and propaganda chase coming from the addresses outside our country," said Minister Bogdanović.

He pointed out that knowledge, will and discipline with which we have jointly contributed to make Montenegro the corona free destination, should be the way of approaching other social challenges.

"We must keep in mind that, not so long ago, bloody wars were fought in this region due to differences and failed ideas. Whoever did not learn lessons from that, has a problem with Montenegro – a democratic, civil, multi-confessional state, which has preserved peace even in the most difficult days. One thing is sure – we will not allow our country to become a training ground for the implementation of devastating plans of the outside initiators," Bogdanović said.

He added that anyone who respects Montenegro as secular, civil state, is reliable partner of this Government – both for dialogue and for an agreement.

"We are determined to resolve every open issue, to tackle every problem, but we will not tolerate manipulations, raising tensions and inciting conflict," Minister Bogdanović emphasised.

The Minister called for the reasonable approach in settling the situation and called on everybody who performed acts of vandalism and worked to inflict damage on Montenegro to turn to their country and its interests instead of listening to the "advice" from Belgrade and Moscow.
