Podgorica, Montenegro (27 May 2020) – Prime Minister Duško Marković noted, answering a question from Goran Danilović, a representative of the Special Club of MP's, within the Prime Minister's Questions, that illegal gatherings on 12 May and 13 May this year in several Montenegrin cities could have unforeseeable consequences for health of the citizens and highlighted that it is not true that he ordered the detention of the priest.
Expressing astonishment at the question asked and the attitude of MP Danilović, in the circumstances of the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, PM Marković noted: "As I said that Montenegro guarantees freedoms and rights to all equally, so it is the Government's obligation to ensure that those ones irresponsible do not endanger freedom, rights and health of the others", adding that there must not and cannot be a difference in the application of medical measures aimed at protecting public health, which was supported by as many as 97% of Montenegrin citizens.
"Of course, you also know very well that illegal gatherings on 12 May and 13 May this year in several Montenegrin cities could have unforeseeable consequences for the health of citizens, as well as that the Government's constitutional obligation is to protect and defend the national interests of Montenegro." And the primary national interest, at that time, was to protect the health of our population. We have all witnessed the violation of the laws and measures prescribed by the National Coordination Body, at the time when danger of the coronavirus spread was hanging over our heads," Prime Minister Marković pointed out.
