Press release: Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic meets with Albanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ilir Meta

Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic has met with Albanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ilir Meta, as part of Mr Metas two-day visit to Montenegro.

Both sides have expressed satisfaction with Montenegrin-Albanian relations in general which, apart from being characterized by good political cooperation, will be additionally reinforced by todays signing of three agreements between the two countries foreign ministries and the forthcoming signing of a cultural cooperation agreement. Prime Minister Djukanovic underlined the opportunities for further integration of transport infrastructure and implementation of projects on sustainable energy sources and environmental protection, with regard to Scutari Lake in particular. Mr Meta, on his part, voiced hope that a promotion of the two countries overall business environments would lead to a larger inflow of foreign direct investment into the region as a whole.

Prime Minister Djukanovic informed his guest of the economic situation in the country, expectations concerning Montenegros membership of MAP, visa liberalization process and current developments regarding the European Commissions Questionnaire.

Both sides have agreed that NATO and EU membership was essential to the region, as a guarantee of stability, democracy and cooperation.
