Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic met Monday with UNICEFs Regional Director for Central and Eastern Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States Steven Allen.
The Prime Minister thanked Mr Allen for UNICEFs initiative and successful projects in Montenegro.
At the meeting, reference was made to cooperation opportunities through the curriculum of the Regional School of Public Administration (RESPA) in Montenegro, which could enable the entire region to share experiences in safeguarding childrens rights.
The Prime Minister underlined that, regardless of the global economic crisis, budget allocations for social welfare, health and education would not be reduced.
UNICEFs Regional Director Mr Allen welcomed the fact that the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child would take place under the auspices of the Prime Minister, as well as the efforts the Government had made in protecting the rights and freedoms enshrined in UNICEF conventions.
Further cooperation with the UNICEF Office in Montenegro was agreed, in accordance with the 2009-2011 program.
