"Until midnight, 15,030 business entities had submitted a request for subsidies. Of this number, 14,469 requests (or 96.2%) were paid, or will be paid today during the day, for a total of 61,402 employees", Minister of Economy Dragica Sekulić said at today's press conference while presenting the results of the Economy and Employees Support Programme, in order to mitigate the negative effects of the coronavirus epidemic.
She said that immediately after the adoption of the programme, a working group composed of representatives of the Ministry of Economy, Tax Administration, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of the Interior, within 6 days, prepared, tested and put into production a software solution for application, processing and payment of approved requests to giro accounts of employees with commercial banks where they receive earnings.
"From today, until the end of the month, all business entities can submit request for a salary subsidy for the month of May, in the same way as they did in the previous month," Sekulić concluded.
State Secretary at the Ministry of Economy Milan Srzentić said that exceptional communication with the economy was achieved through various communication channels.
"In May, employees of the Ministry of Economy responded to 8,931 emails sent by employers and employees. During each working and non-working day in May, over 500 requests on average were processed daily and about 300 inquiries were answered," said Srzentić.
Assistant Director for IT at the Tax Administration Dejan Abazović said that the Tax Administration was involved in the process of project implementation from the very beginning.
"Despite tight deadlines, we managed to find the best solution through the application. We have proved that in Montenegro we can do a lot on our own and that we can regulate numerous processes electronically. During the coronavirus, the Tax Administration communicated electronically with citizens and provided services without interruption," said Abazović.
