Podgorica, Montenegro (3 June 2020) -- Bilateral relations between Montenegro and the United Arab Emirates are at a high level, friendly and partnership ties should be raised to a strategic level, while the economic cooperation should be further strengthened, it was noted at the meeting of Prime Minister Duško Marković and newly appointed UAE Ambassador Nabila Abdelaziz Nasir Saeed Alshamsi

Prime Minister Marković emphasised that, after declaring the end of the coronavirus epidemic, Montenegro is focused on economic recovery and ensuring growth and development. He reminded of the successful economic policy before the pandemic, high growth rates, reduction of unemployment and strong investment activity.

"The third package of economic measures, which is being prepared, will be focused on the liquidity of the economy and the restructuring of the economy, but also on strengthening digital opportunities. Particular focus will be placed on agriculture and on ensuring the production of those products, which we have imported so far," Prime Minister Marković specified.

Ambassador Alshamsi noted that Montenegro has a special place in the foreign policy of the UAE and the economy, so she will do everything to open a new chapter in bilateral relations. Ambassador Alshamsi also highlighted the interest of the UAE and their business community in investing to Montenegro and singled out food safety as a special area.

Commenting on successful fight of both countries against the coronavirus, Prime Minister Marković thanked the UAE for the medical assistance sent to Montenegro: "The UAE has shown determination and institutional strength in fight against the coronavirus, but also solidarity. We are grateful for the help we received. The Montenegrin people will remember that and know how to reciprocate."
