New Call for applications for doctoral research scholarships
For third year in a row, the Ministry of Science of Montenegro announces a Call for Applications for Scholarships for Doctoral Research at Universities in Montenegro in 2020/2021.
The doctoral research scholarship scheme is aimed at: strengthening human resources for research, innovation and competitiveness, increasing the number of young researchers at universities in Montenegro, internationalisation of research work, as well as the exchange of knowledge between the academic and business sectors.
The attractive scholarships are awarded for a period of up to three years, and include free tuition, monthly remuneration for doctoral students in the net amount of EUR 700.00 and research costs in the gross amount of up to EUR 10,000 per year. The scholarship implies full commitment to doctoral research at one of the universities in Montenegro – the host institution, during regular working hours, with mandatory mentoring, as well as a period of international or intersectoral mobility.
Through this scholarship programme, doctoral students should achieve significant results, exercise intensive cooperation with the research team, utilise mobility opportunities to strengthen the links of the research team with international or business partners, and strengthen their capacities to be able to prepare applications for EU research and innovation funds.
The interested candidates and potential mentors can express their interest in the scholarship scheme by registering at the “Naučna mreža” (www.naucnamreza.me) portal, by 25 June 2020 at 14:00. The applications are submitted through “Naučna mreža” portal and to the Ministry of Science by 10 July 2020 at 14:00.

It should be noted that the number of doctoral students in Montenegro has significantly increased in the past two years. The scholarship scheme for young doctoral students helps us to retain young people in the country, which is best illustrated by the fact that there were 100 doctoral students in the country in 2017, only for this number to increase by 27 in 2018, and to a total of 141 doctoral students in 2019.
