Podgorica, Montenegro (10 June 2020) -- Given the claims that have surfaced in the public attempting to challenge the veracity of today's statement, of Director of Police Directorate and member of the National Coordination Body for Communicable Diseases Veselin Veljović, about the epidemiological danger posed by religious and other public gatherings, given the fact that one cluster of the infected with coronavisrus originated from religious gatherings, with the purpose of fully and truthfully informing the public we announce:
The National Coordination Body also analysed, within the regular reports on epidemiological situation of the Public Health Institute, the dangers arising from public gatherings on several occasions at its sessions, and for the last time at the session held on 2 June. As part of the reporting, the Public Health Institute repeatedly assessed at the sessions of the National Coordination Body that about 70 patients, during the epidemiological research, presented data indicating that they had attended mass gatherings of believers. These are people who were not connected in any other way.
Public gatherings represent events of the highest epidemiological risk, which was not only regularly reported by the National Coordination Body, but also by the health and other authorities of many countries in our region and around the world.
