"At today's session, the Cabinet approved the Draft Law on Amendments to the Energy Law. The Law was prepared by the Ministry of Economy after a public debate in communication with energy entities and other interested parties," said Minister of Economy Dragica Sekulić.
She said that in the previous period it was noticed that it is especially necessary to improve the legal solutions related to optimisation, the procedure of connecting the consumer's facility to the electricity transmission or distribution system, production of electricity for own needs and electricity trade on the organised market.
"When we talk about connecting to the network, we wanted to simplify and reduce the cost of this process. Regarding the connection of the consumer's facility to the electricity transmission or distribution system, the number of steps for the consumer has been shortened from 7 to 3," said the Minister.
The Minister stated that the Amendments to the Law on Energy laid the foundations for all consumers to be able to invest in installations for the production of electricity for their own needs in a commercial and very profitable way. Now, every household can install a photovoltaic system on their own roof, which will serve their needs and return the surplus to the network.
Minister Sekulić stressed that the Ministry of Economy has provided credit subsidies for these projects in this year, so all citizens who want to do so will be able to provide themselves with the necessary amounts of energy from their own source through interest-free loans from commercial banks.
