The Ministry of Science held a press conference on the occasion of announcing the results of the Special Call for Covid-19 scientific research projects.

On that occasion, State Secretary for Innovation at the Ministry of Science Saša Ivanović pointed out that before the coronavirus outbreak, this department announced a competition for scientific research projects for which a budget of EUR 1.5 million was allocated.

"Due to the new circumstances caused by the coronavirus pandemic, we decided to allocate part of the funds from this competition in the amount of EUR 200,000 to finance projects whose research is aimed at mitigating the effects of Covid on the health and economic system of Montenegro," said Ivanović.

The situation caused by the coronavirus pandemic has clearly shown the importance of science and innovation and their role in overcoming the consequences it has caused. The call was open until 4 May, and a total of 14 project applications were submitted by the deadline.

"After the evaluation process conducted by international experts, a total of 9 projects were positively assessed. Due to the limited budget, we are not able to finance all 9 projects, but the top 5," concluded the State Secretary.
