During his working visit to Nikšić, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Milutin Simović presented the results of another public call for grants to agricultural producers through the Agrobudget for 2020. This is support for improving the quality of raw milk in the amount of 50 to 80 percent of the investment, which was provided to 172 farmers from all over Montenegro.

According to Simović, the unhindered realisation of this and numerous other public calls for support and significant interest of users, despite the great challenges we faced due to the coronavirus pandemic, is a confirmation of the announced this year's generous support to the agricultural sector.

Recalling that in order to mitigate the consequences of the pandemic, numerous forms of support were provided to the farmers through the Government's special package of measures, Simović said that a third package of measures was being prepared, which would be developmental and which would enable strong new breakthroughs in Montenegrin agriculture.

A total of EUR 169 thousand was invested through a public call for improving the quality of raw milk, and the support of the Ministry amounts to about EUR 102 thousand. 59% of beneficiaries are from the north, 39% from the central region and 2% from the coastal region. The largest number of beneficiaries - 41 are from the municipality of Nikšić.

Through this measure in the previous four years, 853 beneficiaries procured about 900 pieces of equipment. Total investments amounted to EUR 877 thousand, with a grant of EUR 552 thousand. In that period, producers from Nikšić procured 40 lacto-freezers and 145 milking machines.

Simović, his associates and representatives of the local government led by Veselin Grbović, visited several local roads asphalted through the Rural Development Project, which the Government is implementing in cooperation with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). On that occasion, it was announced that the Government, in cooperation with the local government, has built more than 63 km of rural roads in the past four years.
