Minister Bošković takes part in NATO Defence Ministers Meeting

Minister of Defence Predrag Bošković is participating in the NATO Defence Ministers Meeting, which is being held on 17 and 18 June 2020, via video conference.

During the first day of the meeting, the focus of the talks was on the analysis of the security situation at the international level. Starting from the fact that NATO is committed to constantly adapting to current developments at the global level, the Defence Ministers stated that it is necessary to continue active work on developing the ability to provide an adequate and timely response to potential challenges from all strategic directions.

They talked about further steps in order to improve the deterrence and defence of the Alliance, and it was concluded that the preservation of peace, stability and security in the entire Euro-Atlantic area will remain a priority in the coming period.

Minister Bošković pointed out that the Alliance represents the foundation of a strong collective defence and, accordingly, continues to efficiently fulfill key tasks, at the same time adapting to the changes brought by the new security context.

Referring to the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on the functioning of the Alliance, the Minister stated that NATO once again demonstrated its ability to carry out activities smoothly and responsibly in order to preserve international security, regardless of the new challenges.
