Podgorica, Montenegro (23 June 2020) -- Prime Minister Duško Marković and business people agreed today on the need for synergy of the Government, economy and banking sector, so the citizens and the economy of Montenegro may get out of the global economic crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic, with the least negative consequences.
The Managing Board of the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro congratulated the Government and the National Coordination Body for Communicable Diseases on the successful crisis management and set out data that in a situation where the global economy is characterised by complete unpredictability, the Montenegrin economy, as a consequence of the pandemic, also records a significant decline.
It was concluded that the common short-term goal of both, the state and the economy is to preserve the economic substance and jobs, especially in small and medium enterprises, while in the medium term the priority is further development of the Montenegrin economy and reduction of foreign trade deficit, i.e. work on balancing imports and exports.
Representatives of the Government and business people agreed that Montenegro has sufficient mechanisms and capacities to design a new development strategy and implement projects, which will contribute to the achievement of goals.
Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policy and Financial System and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Milutin Simović, Minister of Economy Dragica Sekulić, Minister of Finance Darko Radunović, Minister of Transport and Maritime Affairs Osman Nurković and Director of the Public Health Institute of Montenegro Prof. Dr. Boban Mugoša took part in consultation work.
