PM Marković: I will present results of talks on Alliance for Europe Initiative to Government tomorrow, unity in Montenegro can only be based on anti-fascism

Podgorica, Montenegro (24 June 2020) -- Prime Minister Duško Marković announced at the Prime Minister's Questions that he would present the results of the talks within his initiative Alliance for Europe and that he would propose an action plan for further work on the launched important issues to the participants in the dialogue, which will probably be addressed this one and the next one Government and that there can be no unity in Montenegro except on the basis of anti-fascism.
"The initiative we called the Alliance for Europe, I launched in early February, when I called on all relevant political and social actors to engage in dialogue on all issues that will help to overcome divisions and find a common denominator in the interest of citizens and our European perspective. In the period from 19 February to 11 March, almost daily, I had a serious and detailed conversations with representatives of the NGO sector, the media, whatever we thought about them, and social organisations that were willing to engage in this dialogue, on which the public was fully informed. The dialogue had to be interrupted due to the coronavirus pandemic and it was continued, as soon as the health preconditions were created, which is in late May, with talks to the representatives of political parties in this Parliament. As I have pointed out several times, all these conversations exuded with openness, often in critical tones, even if you say that it is a farce. Believe me, it was not always pleasant for me to face certain assessments of my interlocutors, but that was the purpose of the initiative - to talk about our reality more straightforward, in order to accelerate our path to the European Union, with common sense and joint forces," said the Prime Minister, answering the question from Miodrag Lekić from the MP Club of SNP-DEMOS.
Prime Minister Duško Marković said he was grateful to all those who responded to his call and noted that he was in favour of unity in Montenegro, but that it must be based on anti-fascism and respect for Montenegrin institutions.
