The National Coordination Body for Communicable Diseases, at today's session chaired by President Milutin Simović, stated that all measures of this body and the activities of the competent authorities have contributed to a high level of protection of the health and lives of citizens.

"The National Coordination Body professionally and impartially analyzed the epidemiological data that arrived from individual countries and consistently made decisions with the aim of protecting the health and lives of Montenegrin citizens and foreigners in our country. The ways of coronavirus import to our country due to the irresponsibility of individuals and the development of the epidemiological situation in the countries of the region confirmed that we have made the right decisions in the interest of the citizens of Montenegro and public health," it was noted at the session.

It is with great sorrow we received the sad news that two people infected with the coronavirus died today, and that the results of the coronavirus test are awaited for the third deceased person. The National Coordination Body expressed its condolences to the families of the deceased and stated that the virus, recently imported to our country from the region, takes its toll.

As part of the analysis of the epidemiological situation in Montenegro, the National Coordination Body was informed that the number of coronavirus tests in relation to the number of inhabitants in our country is among the highest in the region and in accordance with the highest European standards. Full support was given to the Public Health Institute to continue the high testing rate.

Reaffirming the strategic commitment of Montenegro, as a leading candidate country for membership in the European Union, to respect, follow and apply European rules and principles, the National Coordination Body decided to harmonise the further policy of opening the borders, which is a certain need of our economy, with the policy and decisions of the European Union as soon as they are finalised and announced.

Analyzing certain daily political phenomena, the National Coordination Body reminds that the success in the first phase of the response to the coronavirus is the result of overall unity, solidarity and discipline, which has been announced to the public several times.

"Emphasising the differences, the emergence of the lists we are witnessing and counting heads are not the path to success but the path to failure. That is clear to everyone," the National Coordination Body stated and added that we should all continue together to responsibly protect the health and lives of all our citizens and to preserve our economic substance. We must stand in solidarity and unity, because that is the condition for the success of the entire society.
