Representatives of the Government and President of the Municipality of Budva Nikola Divanović concluded today that the urgent financial consolidation of the Municipality is the basic precondition for its further development and functioning, considering the fact that the previous administration did not solve the accumulated debt of tens of millions of euros.
"The Government, confirming the repeatedly stated principled attitude towards every local self-government, regardless of who is in power, expresses its readiness to issue a new guarantee for a financial arrangement that would mean the recovery of public finances of the Municipality of Budva and solving this problem," Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policy and Financial System Milutin Simović said.
The President of the Municipality of Budva welcomed the Government's readiness.
"The Municipality of Budva needs responsibility and order, that is why I am here today. I am sure that we will find solutions in constructive communication with the Government in order to unblock the municipal account, pay salaries, recover finances and overcome the difficult financial situation in which I found the municipal treasury," Nikola Divanović said at the meeting.
DPM Simović assessed the need for the Government and the Municipality of Budva to overcome the inherited challenges as soon as possible, and the fact that this year's tourist season was affected by the coronavirus pandemic all over the world.
"We are witnessing a difficult situation in tourism this summer around the world. That is why every day of the tourist season, every tourist, every tourist capacity and every job in tourism are precious to us. That is why we are making every effort to provide conditions for the smooth functioning of local self-government," said the Deputy Prime Minister.
The meeting was also attended by the Ministers of Finance and Public Administration, Darko Radunović and Suzana Pribilović, and the Directors General of the Directorates for the State Budget and the State Treasury, Bojan Paunović and Dragan Darmanović.
