Deputy Prime Minister and President of the National Coordination Body for Communicable Diseases Milutin Simović called on citizens today to abide by measures against the spread of coronavirus, saying that today's situation is different than in the first wave.

"In a situation when, thanks to irresponsible individuals and groups, there was a wave of imports, and then internal transmissions, and now when it is necessary to provide conditions for the survival of the economy, we need another kind of discipline and responsibility. Now there is no strict measure – staying home. Now we are going out to work, because the economy is also defending public health. It is that other way of living with an epidemic, where we have left our homes, where we go to work, but still we have to reduce so much, to practice social distancing, to be more responsible and disciplined. In another way, compared to staying home. We respected the home discipline, the humanity and solidarity discipline and were proud of each other. Now that we are leaving home and when everyone needs to normalize life and live with the new reality, we need discipline, distance, a mask, and the hygiene discipline. We know that these are demanding tasks for each individual, we know that everyday life carries many challenges and that this situation is an additional burden. This is a crisis that no one could have foreseen and we must face it in an extremely responsible way. I know that we will and that we can, because we have always shown that we are the strongest when it is the hardest" – said the President of the National Coordination Body in his address to the public.

The President of the National Coordination Body said that many institutions from the health system, many competent institutions from the state and local level, many dedicated, responsible and devoted individuals persist in response to the pandemic and that this is the only possible approach that guarantees success in this new wave and preparation to face the new uncertainty brought by autumn and winter.

"Our current corona numbers indicate the need for additional caution, additional engagement, additional determination and responsibility, readiness for additional self-control, additional understanding, unity and solidarity… For the sake of citizens, it is important to say that these are our real numbers, as they were in the first wave, although at that time attempts from various addresses were made to deny them. Our numbers are not an expression of the need to adapt to the tourist season, in order to show the competitiveness of our tourist destination. They are not even pre-election, in order to create a false image, to change and show some other data before the ink on the ballot papers dries. They are an expression of real, professional and responsible registration of the coronavirus cases", said Milutin Simović.

The President of the National Coordination Body said that from the beginning, our country had an approach of full confrontation with reality, based on professional principles, and that it did not hide and adjust the data.

"From the first day, our attitude is principled and based on a conservative epidemiological approach – I would say the strictest, but also the safest in the long run when it comes to a wide range of testing – significantly above comparative averages; epidemiological research and a wide range of contacts; reporting patients – not only those in hospital, but also symptomatic and asymptomatic ones; reporting the recovered patients – our approach was not without clear procedures; and when it comes to reporting the dead cases – we did not have approach as died of coronavirus or died of other illness while having corona and other incoherent explanations… So, from the beginning we have an approach of full confrontation with reality, based on professional principles. Without hiding and adjusting, without ambiguity, without confusion" – said the Deputy Prime Minister and President of the National Coordination Body.

Milutin Simović concluded that Montenegro has always been best motivated by the truth and added that he believes that it continues to be guided by the truth and realistic depiction. "We need that approach, not an irresponsible approach to later discover and admit mistakes," concluded Milutin Simović.
