National Coordination Body calls on citizens of Podgorica to have particular regard to increase in number of infections in Capital City

Podgorica, Montenegro (14 July 2020) -- The National Coordination Body for Communicable Diseases, at tonight’s session chaired by President Milutin Simović, analyzed the epidemiological situation in Montenegro and especially in the Capital City of Podgorica, where a significant increase in the number of newly discovered cases with coronavirus infection, was noted.
The citizens are urged to pay a special attention to the danger posed by further local transmission of the virus and to comply with the prescribed measures, without exception. It was noted that there are individual cases of violation of measures in catering facilities and public transport. The competent services are in charge of strengthening the controls, especially when it comes to the obligations of wearing a protective mask and maintaining physical distance.
The National Coordination Body once again expresses its determination to preserve the health and lives of citizens with adequate and timely measures, but reminds that discipline and prevention are the duty and obligation of every citizen, and the safest way to reduce the spread of coronavirus.
Special attention given to the elderly
Considering the latest data on new cases of infection, the National Coordination Body concluded that transmission has mainly spread in the population of younger and middle-aged people.
In this regard, it was decided that in the coming period, special attention will be paid to the elderly population as the most vulnerable category.
In Rožaje and Gusinje, the validity of the measures was extended for another week
The National Coordination Body gave its consent to the Ministry of Health to extend, for another week, the application of the measures adopted on 25 June for the municipality of Rožaje, whose application on 7 July was extended until 15 July, as well as the application of the measures adopted on 2 July for the municipality of Gusinje, whose application on 7 July was extended until 17 July.
The application of measures on the territory of the municipality of Rožaje is extended until 22 July, and on the territory of the municipality of Gusinje until 24 July.
The National Coordination Body extended the application of measures adopted on 25 June for the municipality of Rožaje until 15 July, while the application of measures adopted on 2 July for the municipality of Gusinje was extended until 17 July.
The request of musicians is considered
The National Coordination Body considered the request of the Association of performing artists, as well as the addresses of several music artists individually who asked for a mitigation of the measure of banning playing in restaurants.
The Institute of Public Health is in charge of proposing to the National Coordination Body for Communicable Diseases, adequate measures that in accordance with the evolvement of the epidemiological situation, would propose a solution for overcoming situation in which the performing artists have found themselves.
