Montenegro and Israel have excellent bilateral relations, high-quality cooperation and ties between the two countries in the coming period should be strengthened in the field of economy and innovation, said Prime Minister Duško Marković and Ambassador of Israel Alona Fischer Kam.
"There are numerous opportunities for further improvement of our economic cooperation. We recognise Israel as a country that is strongly committed to science, innovation and modern technology. We want more intensive cooperation in those areas, because Montenegro wants the transformation and diversification of the economy on that basis," said Prime Minister Marković.
The Israeli Ambassador, who paid a farewell visit to the Prime Minister, said that the Honorary Consul of Israel to Montenegro had been appointed and that she believed that this would give a new impetus to strengthening relations, economic and cultural cooperation. She added that additional cooperation could be achieved in the field of renewable energy, cyber security, agriculture and water management.
PM Marković pointed out the positive and constructive role of the Jewish community in Montenegro, which contributes to the ties between the two countries and mutual trust.
The Prime Minister thanked for the solidarity and assistance that Israel sent to Montenegro for the fight against the coronavirus. The two officials agreed that challenging situations, such as the coronavirus pandemic, are an opportunity to show solidarity and friendship between countries.
