Podgorica, Montenegro (19 July 2020) -- The National Coordination Body for Communicable Diseases decided earlier today, at the suggestion of the Public Health Institute of Montenegro, to introduce in the Old Royal Capital of Cetinje and the Municipality of Nikšić as of tonight at 24:00, the same temporary measures for preventing the spread of coronavirus, as they were introduced in Podgorica three days ago.
Bearing in mind the epidemiological situation in the Old Royal Capital of Cetinje and the Municipality of Nikšić, and especially the concerning upward trend in the number of active cases of coronavirus, the National Coordination Body gave its consent to the Ministry of Health for orders, which include the following measures in the Old Royal Capital of Cetinje and the Municipality of Nikšić:
1) Mandatory use of protective masks indoors and outdoors, including children older than seven years old. This obligation does not apply to residential buildings.
2) Obligatory use of protective masks for employees and passengers in public transport vehicles (bus, van, taxi), as well as during transport of employees by vehicles for own needs, including drivers and passengers in a passenger motor vehicle (except for members of joint family household), with the application of other measures, in accordance with the instruction of the Public Health Institute of Montenegro.
3) Gathering of citizens in open public places is possible up to 40, while in inside public places up to 20 persons, with the obligation to respect the physical distance of at least two meters and to wear protective masks.
4) Companies, other legal entities and entrepreneurs who perform catering activities in catering facilities (restaurants, cafes, cafeterias, hotel restaurants and similar catering facilities) are obliged to organise their work in a such a way that:
- at the table may sit a maximum of two guest within the catering facility or four guests on the terrace/garden of this facility;
- disable the self - service, staying and standing in front of the bar;
- provide distance of at least two meters among tables, in accordance with the recommendations of the Public Health Institute of Montenegro;
- provide regular maintenance of hygiene and disinfection of common premises, furniture, equipment, etc. in accordance with the recommendations of the Public Health Institute of Montenegro.
5) Companies and entrepreneurs who provide services in fitness centres and gyms are obliged to organise work in a such a way that only one person per ten square meters may stay in the facility at the time, but not more than 20 people, with the obligation to respect physical distance from at least two meters between service users and to ensure compliance with other measures, in accordance with the instructions of the Public Health Institute of Montenegro;
The measures that will be introduced in the Old Royal Capital Cetinje and in the Municipality of Nikšić as of midnight, will be applied for seven days, when the application can be extended.
There are no protected or spared from coronavirus. Nor is there a municipality or a city that is not in danger. Therefore, it is important that, even where strict measures are not in force, citizens themselves adopt those patterns of behaviour that are effective in prevention: wearing masks always and everywhere, maintaining distance as much as possible and hand hygiene.
