PM Marković in Žabljak: Almost everything we promised in this municipality - we have fulfilled

Žabljak, Montenegro (4 August 2020) -- Prime Minister Duško Marković emphasised, at the end of his working visit to the Municipality of Žabljak, that the Government and local leadership have fulfilled almost everything they promised and that every citizen of Žabljak and tourist see with the naked eye, the result of that work and that synergy, as well as that the Government will continue to invest in Žabljak over the next four years.
"I am pleased to say that we have fulfilled almost everything we promised, and that speaks of the joint dedicated work of the Government and the leadership of the Municipality of Žabljak. With one synergy and togetherness, we managed to revive Žabljak in terms of infrastructure. This can be seen with the naked eye of those people who live here and those who come to Žabljak," said Prime Minister Duško Marković at the end of his working visit.
The Prime Minister began his working visit, attending a meeting with Mayor of the Municipality Veslin Vukićević and the Vice President of the Municipality Vasilije Jakšić. All completed projects, as well as ongoing projects have been carefully analyzed. The Prime Minister and the leadership of the Municipality expressed satisfaction with the implemented projects and the successful cooperation, and high state allocations for projects in Žabljak. During the mandate of this Government, EUR 11 million were allocated only for the projects implemented by the Public Works Administration. Another EUR 2.6 million was allocated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
"An enormous amount of money was allocated for the good of Žabljak and the implementation of the development vision of Žabljak, which is turning from a strategic document into a reality," said the Prime Minister.
During the working visit, the Prime Minister visited the works on the Hotel "Durmitor Hotel and Villas" - a project worth EUR 19.5 million, which construction began in autumn. The future five-star hotel should have 68 accommodation units with a capacity of 168 beds. In the new hotel, 104 new jobs should be created.
Within his working visit to Žabljak, the Prime Minister visited the construction site of the public garage and the street in its extension, which is being renovated.
The Prime Minister announced, visiting the location of the ski resort, the investments to the ski centre, namely the reconstruction of the existing and the installation of a new cable car.
"Now we are on Savin Kuk, I want to inform the citizens of Žabljak, people who rely on the local economy that we adopted, at the latest session of the Government, the Draft Amendments to the Spatial Plan of special purpose for Durmitor area, where we planned to revitalize the old cable car and of course install a new cable car along with the new 4.5 km of trails. We presented this Draft to the UNESCO and we expect a response from them in the next month - a month and a half, and I believe that we will complete, till the next year, this project that will bring the Durmitor region and especially Žabljak, a new value and complete the best tourist offer of Žabljak," Prime Minister Duško Marković pointed out.
The Prime Minister announced, for the next four years, the continuation of work on the remaining development projects.
"Monitoring the projects in Žabljak, I have been here 3-4 times. I didn’t let my friends from the local leadership to be passive. I believe that I bored them, but today together we can say that we have done a great thing, that we have fulfilled what we promised, and that in the next four years we will implement all that is left for us to make Žabljak one of the most modern mountain towns, not only in the North, but also in the entire region"- said Prime Minister Duško Marković.
In addition to the Prime Minister, a working visit to Žabljak was also attended by Director of the Public Works Administration Rešad Nuhodžić.
