Prime Minister Duško Marković paid a visit to Tivat today, where he met with municipal management. The Prime Minister congratulated the municipal management on the implementation of planned projects and continued successful development of the city and said that the next government, which will be predominantly formed by the Democratic Party of Socialists, will uncompromisingly ensure the realisation of a new vision of Airports of Montenegro in the interest of Podgorica, Tivat and the whole of Montenegro, regardless of whether someone's individual or party interest will be affected in the process.
Tivat – an example of smart and sustainable development of the city
The municipal management, led by President of the Municipality Siniša Kusovac, presented to the Prime Minister the details of the realisation of the four-year plans, saying that almost all the projects have been realised. For the next period, the local government in Tivat has three priorities, they said: the construction of a boulevard towards Lepetani, the sports complex Župa and the sports academy with a stadium.
The Prime Minister congratulated the municipal management on the successful realisation of the planned goals, saying that Tivat has shown in a short time that it is possible to develop the city in a smart and sustainable way and improve the quality of life of citizens.
"Tivat has become a place that is not only recognisable in our country, but is globally recognised as a tourist destination with potential. It competes with the most prestigious destinations. We have shown that with courage and determination we can change things quickly. It is positive that the local government is committed to the development of infrastructure - traffic, utility and social infrastructure," said Prime Minister Duško Marković at the meeting.
The Centre for Children with Disabilities officially opened
The Prime Minister officially opened the Day Care Centre for Children with Disabilities. The 680 m2 facility, worth EUR 660,000, was financed by the Municipality of Tivat.
The Centre, which can accommodate up to 25 users, includes eight hours of care and development of skills needed for everyday life in the community, parenting support and community nursing.
The Prime Minister previously visited the traffic infrastructure facilities in Tivat and the substation in Lastva Grbaljska.
The Prime Minister and the Minister of Economy, Dragica Sekulić, talked with entrepreneurs about development projects and the realisation of the Government's packages of support to the economy and citizens in overcoming the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic.
It is always a special pleasure for the Prime Minister to visit Tivat
Summing up today, Prime Minister Duško Marković said that it is always a special pleasure for the Prime Minister to pay a working visit to the municipality of Tivat.
"It is really the best opportunity to see once again, on a concrete example, that our vision of development was right. We started the realisation of our vision immediately after the restoration of our independence. Tivat back then and today's Tivat do not look like each other. The people of Tivat know this best because the revival of the city is taking place before their eyes, which in this short period has become one of the most prestigious tourist and yachting destinations in the Mediterranean. But, not only that: today I visited another capitally important facility that we realised last year - the Lastva Grbaljska substation, which is the new heart of the Montenegrin power system. In addition to the key importance for the project of submarine energy cable to Italy, this substation guarantees high-quality energy supply to all existing and planned tourist centres on our coast. Indeed, in terms of energy, through these projects, Montenegro has already established a direct connection with modern Europe," said the Prime Minister.
I have no understanding for resistance to airport valorisation
PM Marković and the municipal management also discussed the valorisation and development of the Tivat Airport.
"I have no understanding for the resistance that comes from our coalition partners. I am convinced that Airports can provide much more to our development only if valorised, which includes money, knowledge and vision of that development, instead of continuing to use and deplete that resource in a way that is not sustainable. In the next mandate, the Government will certainly ensure that this new vision of the development of the Airport is realised. We will continue the started tender procedure and complete the process that guarantees us at least one hundred million euros of advance income; then an annual fee the amount of which is greater than the present profit of the Airport; new investments of at least two hundred million euros, and Tivat and Podgorica will also earn a significant part of the concession fee. Not to mention that this guarantees us new knowledge and new competencies of employees and ultimately – the development of our airports tailored to European airports. Only such airports in Tivat and Podgorica will fully serve the development of the Montenegrin economy," said the Prime Minister.
Prime Minister Duško Marković said that this chance should not be missed.
"The new Government, which will be predominantly formed by the Democratic Party of Socialists of Montenegro, will not make compromises on this topic. Both Tivat and Podgorica deserve the full valorisation of these two resources; it is in the interest of these two cities, it is in the interest of Montenegro. And if someone's individual or party interest will be affected in that process - it is smaller damage than for Airports to hinder our accelerated development! The new Government will not have the slightest dilemma here! Therefore, it is important that the citizens of Tivat understand this and that is why I send this message, above all, to them" – concluded Prime Minister Duško Marković at the end of his working visit to the Municipality of Tivat.
