The beginning of the school year was postponed to 1st October, at the recommendation of the Public Health Institute, due to the assessment of the health authorities that the regular beginning of the school year, for which the education system was ready, carries a risk to children's health due to the uncertain epidemiological situation that, although under control, is still complex.

The decision on postponement, refers to schools and kindergartens and in the coming days, the Institute of Public Health and representatives of the education system will define clear recommendations based on which the way of organizing classes in schools and kindergartens will be explained in detail, when the time comes.

During the interruption of educational work, the previously determined measure on paid absence from work of one of the parents / guardians / adoptive parents / foster parents or single parents of a child not older than 11 years will be applied, with the exception of employees in those activities, whose work was accessed as necessary in this period, by the National Coordination Body.

This decision, which was made exclusively for the purpose of protecting children's health, was preceded by a consultation with representatives of all relevant institutions: the Ministry of Health, the Institute of Public Health, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economy and the Institute for Education.

The Trade Union of Education and the NGO "Roditelji," were informed about the reasons for making the mentioned decision and the risks that conditioned it.
