Podgorica, Montenegro (28 August 2020) -- "The treats – regardless of the address they are coming from – will not work here. As the propaganda that the state will provoke coups and incidents cannot pass. For the institutions are ready to defend the state of all its citizens. We will do whatever it takes to hold the elections in democratic atmosphere, without incidents, as it befits Montenegro which is part of the strongest Euro – Atlantic family of free and united countries of the world, to Montenegro that is forward looking to a European future. I inform citizens that the state and its institutions are guaranteeing peace, security and safety for all. On 30 August and after 30 August," said Minister of the Interior Mevludin Nuhodžić.
"The Minister emphasized that threatening messages from the social networks under political campaigns, oblige the state and its institutions to responsibly assess the situation. We are witnessing a renewal of a familiar scenario – the threats that an attempt for destabilization of Montenegro will happen on Election Day, which should be a holiday of democracy and an expression of the free will of the majority. All those who call for conflicts should know that the state will protect peace, multi-ethnic and multi religious harmony and defend Montenegro as a civic society. The state does not threaten to anyone, but it is an obligation of any serious and responsible government, to preserve the peace and stability. Institutions are ready to decisively respond to any attempt of violent behaviour," Minister Nuhodžić pointed out.
The Minister said that no one has a right to disrupt, in our country’s house where we are all on our own, the coexistence and peace that we have preserved even in the most difficult times."Either local or imported adventurers, unwilling to accept the rules of democracy, do not have the right to it. Citizens of Montenegro, of which I am convinced, will resist provocations and show wisdom, maturity and dignity like always so far," said Minister of the Interior Mevludin Nuhodžić.
