The health system of Montenegro is helping and will continue to help the General Hospital in Berane in the fight against coronavirus, it was announced in Berane after the meeting of the representatives of the Crisis Medical Staff of the National Coordination Body for Communicable Diseases with the crisis municipal team and the hospital board.
Dr. Vujica Ljubić, a substitute director of the hospital, said that 65 patients who are positive for coronavirus are currently being treated in the hospital, and that about 80 percent of them depend on oxygen support, while ten are in a life-threatening health condition.
"We are struggling with the personnel potential at the moment, we have four internists on duty, two infectologists are on sick leave due to Covid, but with the help of colleagues from the Kotor hospital we manage to overcome this situation," Dr. Ljubić said.
The Head of the Crisis Medical Staff, Dr. Nermin Abdić, announced all the necessary help to the Berane hospital.
"What I had the opportunity to see with my colleagues at the General Hospital in Berane is a truly collegial, highly professional and dedicated attitude of all health workers in this health institution and I use the opportunity to thank them for their dedicated and professional work. … We have expressed full understanding for the conditions in which colleagues in the Berane hospital work and we will provide all necessary personnel and all other assistance if it is necessary for colleagues to resolve this situation in the best possible way" - Dr. Abdić said after the meeting with the board of doctors of the General Hospital Berane.
Dr. Abdić urged the citizens, especially citizens of Berane, to respect epidemiological measures - to wear protective masks, maintain a physical distance and personal hygiene.
"In that way, it will have the best preventive effect on this virus. Because our colleagues in Berane and all health workers in Montenegro are only treating the consequences," Head of the Crisis Medical Staff Nermin Abdić said.
