Additional support to livestock farmers: Another EUR 272 thousand for livestock grazing in katuns

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development continued to support livestock grazing in katuns in 2020, in accordance with the Agrobudget. The main goal of this measure is to support the traditional way of animal husbandry. Furthermore, the implementation of this measure contributes to the conservation and sustainable use of natural resources, sustainable management of agricultural land, environmental protection, conservation of biodiversity, etc. 

Within this measure, during 2020, the right to support was exercised by 1,638 agricultural producers from 22 Montenegrin municipalities, who stayed in Montenegrin katuns with 85,826 head of cattle. Through this measure, farmers were paid premiums for livestock grazing in katuns, in the total amount of EUR 272,608.80.
